Ram Krishna Story: Kavad Painting by Dwarka Prasad

Dwarka Prasad paints Ram and Krishna’s story in this Kavad painting. It contains tales of Lord Ram and Krishna on either side of the inner panels of the box. On the left side panels are illustrations of Krishna Leelas including the story of Lord Krishna dancing upon and subduing Kāliya and stealing a pot of butter earning the name Maakhan chor or Butter thief. On the right-side panels are illustrations of Ram Leela including the story of Hanuman reassuring Sita, giving Rama’s signet ring as a sign that Rama is still alive, the episode of the building of Ram Setu bridge, fighting evil forces to reunite with his beloved Sita.
