Handmade Muck-board – 10 x 12 inches (Tanjore)

Tanjore paintings are made on a muckboard which is handmade by the artist. Preparing the Muck board is a long arduous process done by the Tanjore artists themselves. It is imperative to use the perfect thickness of the MDF board for a durable Tanjore painting. It is then layered with manjer pat (a cotton cloth), followed by layers of French chalk powder mixture which gives the Tanjore boards it’s smooth texture and a few other materials to make sure it is insect proof as well!
