The Celebration: PHAD PAINTING BY KRITIKA JOSHI

Even though the phad paintings were traditionally based on folk stories, the recent radical urbanisation has brought the other elements in the art. The painting depicts a dancer who has two oil lit lamps on her hands while she is balancing two pots on her head. She is possibly performing the bhawai dance. She is dancing on the beats of a dholki and another musical instrument. The entire painting is done using blue, gold and black.
